Chemical Operator - St Louis, MO

The Chemical Operator is responsible for ensuring adherence to production schedule by compounding (batch mixing) concentrates and syrups in an accurate and timely manner. This position is also responsible for extracting flavors as well as mixes concentrate for use in intermediate batches, finished extracts, flavor blends, emulsions and juice products; completing appropriate documentation to support inventory accuracy and batch traceability and ensuring equipment is properly sanitized; compiling reports of progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems. The Chemical Operator is also responsible for ensuring product quality by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices and all Standard Operating Procedures.

Shift & Schedule:This is a full time position working 2nd shift. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays as scheduled is required.

Compensation: This role is an hourly position paid on a weekly basis. The pay-rate is $28.74/hour (Not inclusive of the shift differential that will be added on when you start)

Position Responsibilities

  • Maintains and executes the master sanitation schedule while adhering to facility safety practices and procedures

  • Operates sanitation equipment/Clean in Place (CIP) systems and completes product transfers to liquid packaging lines.

  • Uses understanding of SAP to execute transactions for compounding; reads and follows SAP production instruction sheets.

  • Weighs materials, pumping ingredients into and out of mixing drums and totes.

  • Ensures that all product produced meets quality specification by properly sanitizing all equipment, following recipe instructions, and calculating and accurately measuring all ingredients. Conducts in-process quality checks and provides samples for the quality lab.

  • Completes appropriate documentation to support inventory accuracy and batch traceability by recording production information and material usage in SAP as the actual production takes place. Maintains production logs as necessary.

  • Monitors equipment performance and performs routine case and maintenance as required. Works in partnership with maintenance technician to resolve equipment problems.

  • Using general compounding skills, compounds syrups and simple blends.

  • Using shear mixers and homogenizers, mixes natural and artificial flavors, juices, dyes, and preservatives for use in intermediate batches.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Total Rewards

Hourly Pay: $28.74/hr starting rate $30.28 qualified rate after 6 months. $1.50 shift differential

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED

  • At least 2 years of batching or compounding experience (preferably in a comparable industry);

  • Prefer knowledge of emulsions, experience using homogenizers or extractors or shear pumps

  • Must have proven computer skills, with ability to accurately input information.

  • Must have demonstrated the ability to complete specific computer transactions related to the production process.

  • Must possess good communication skills, and the proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Must possess the ability to effectively apply mathematical concepts and reasoning skills.

  • Must be able to complete forklift certification. Prior forklift experience is preferred.

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to frequently lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds repeatedly
